The World Association for photobiomoduLation Therapy was formed in 1994 in Barcelona, Spain, when two international organizations, namely, International Laser Therapy Association (ISLAM), unified to pursue the common goals of promoting research, education and clinical application of photobiomodulation world-wide. The congresses have then been held in Israel (1996); USA (1998, 2014, and 2021); Greece (2000); Japan (2002); Brazil (2004 and 2016); Cyprus (2006); South Africa (2008); Norway (2010); Australia (2012); France (2018); Virtual (2021); and India (2023).
